Guiding Questions
When comparing your district results to individual schools, standards, or assessments, use the following guide:
- Are there noticeable patterns in the different groups of data (school, district, standard, assessment, grade level)?
- Where are they similar or different?
- Are the differences in any particular pattern?
- What explanations might there be for the differences?
- What can you tell from drilling down into the subcomponents?
- Which categories have the greatest variance?
- What might explain the wide variance?
- Are there particular content areas, schools, or grade levels that warrant further investigation?
- What additional data do you need to validate your hypotheses?
- What conclusions can you draw?
